Reminder to parents: Register those kiddos for school

The new school year begins at Greene County and Paton-Churdan schools Thursday,  Aug. 23.

The Greene County school district is not having an all-school registration day as in years past, but is using online registration for the convenience of parents and staff efficiency.

Students who are new to the district and all pre-school students will be issued a username and password to access the Infinite Campus website for registration. Parents will need to provide documentation of meeting state immunization requirements and each child’s birth certificate.

Parents of students who attended Greene County schools last year can use the Parent Portal login website. Visit https://www.gccsd.12.ia.us/domain/213 for information.

Persons who don’t have access to the internet can schedule a one-hour  time slot at a registration kiosk by called the administrative office at 515-386-4168 weekdays between 9 am and 3 pm. Parents can pay fees online or at any school building.

Greene County Elementary will have an open house Monday, Aug. 20, from 3:30 to 7 pm, with new student orientation at 5:30. The middle school will have an open house Aug. 20 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. At the high school, new students, freshmen and parents should plan to attend a meeting at 6 pm in the school auditorium. There will be a meeting for seniors and their parents Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 6:30 pm at the high school.

Paton-Churdan is holding registration Thursday, Aug. 9, from 12 to 8 pm, and Friday, Aug. 10, from 8 am to 4 pm at the school in Churdan. Registration forms are available at https://www.paton-churdan.k12.ia.us. They can be downloaded and  completed before registration, or hard copy forms will be available that day.

Parents who can’t attend either session can call the school at 515-389-3111 to schedule an appointment.
